Markus Willeke

February 18 – April 8, 2018

Primarly Markus WIlleke is a painter. His motives resemble the smooth aesthetic of comic books or advertisments. Due to their huge format and the force of the painterly gesture, his pictures have a great physical presence and suggestive power.

He was born in Recklinghausen in 1971 and studied at the Art Academy in Münster between 1992 and 200. He lives and works in Berlin.

For the exhibition in the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen Willeke will create exclusive paintings for the spaces of the museum, focussing on the motiv Dark Crash Sound which will be presented over all three floors. With the means of painting he will also change the outward appearance of the Kunsthalle.

We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition on sunday, February 18, 2008 at 11 am.
