Art Prize »junger westen« 2021

Drawing, Print and Photography

Kunsthalle Recklinghausen
Dezember 5, 2021 – January 30, 2022

The »junger westen« art prize, endowed with €10,000, was founded in 1948 and is the oldest art prize to be awarded by a local authority since the Second World War. This year, it was awarded to Jeewi Lee (*1987 in Seoul, Korea) from Berlin for drawing, graphics and photography. In her artistic work, the South Korean-German artist deals with traces and reflects on her own production process. A separate floor is dedicated to Lee's works. On the lower two floors, the Kunsthalle is also showing the works of 15 other artists who were finalists for this year's art prize: Ann-Josephin Dietz, Rahel Goetsch, Jonas Habrich, Damaris Kerkhoff, Donja Nasseri, Nico Pachali, Mari Lena Rapprich, Morgaine Schäfer, Cordula Schieri, Berit Schneidereit, Isabell Schulte, Yui Tombana, Yoana Tuzharova, more Vladimir Unkovic and Philipp Valenta.
