February 19, 2017 – April 17, 2017

Anton Henning was born in 1964 in Berlin and gained fame due to numerous national and international solo exhibitions. Although he is a painter he often oversteps the genre boundaries with his installations filling whole exhibition spaces. With the interior design of the restaurant in the Rolandseck railway station near the Arp Museum, he has expanded his painterly approach in the direction of interior design. He also expands his work with sculptural concepts. Quotation and irony play an important role in his work. His approach is figurative, but he also embraces ornamentation as a design principle, even allowing for a touch of kitsch.

Henning is planning an exhibition dedicated to portraits for the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen. Not only people but also ‘things’ have the character of portraits.

Opening on Sunday, 19 February 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen. The artist will be present.

A catalogue with images of all the exhibited works and installation shots from the exhibition at the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen will be published to accompany the exhibition.

Exhibition management: Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Ullrich
